Our History

Our History

On October 4th, 2009, the DeVries family and one other family met in the fellowship hall of the old Calvary Christian Center building in Mt. Washington, Ky for the first Sunday morning service of Vision Valley Baptist Church. The name, Vision Valley, was chosen because God’s vision for our lives is many times realized in the valleys, or trials, through which God leads us.

One month later, 4 families hung the first VVBC sign. The verse on that first sign has been our church’s mission statement from the beginning: “And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.” (Acts 5:42)

In April of 2010, several folks who had been saved through the outreach of VVBC were baptized in our first baptism service in a converted farm tank filled with very cold water! On April 25, 2010 several families participated in the charter-signing service, thus officially starting the Vision Valley Baptist Church. God has blessed us with many folks saved and baptized and faithful friends who have labored together for the cause of Jesus Christ.

In January of 2014, we began renting the auditorium and Sunday School wing side of the building. Then, on August 28th, 2015, The Lord allowed us to close on the purchase of our 16,000 square-foot church building. We believe the date on which we closed, 8/28, was no accident. Romans 8:28 says, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."

Renovations and upgrades are always underway, and we are excited and prayerful about what God has in store for us in this facility. Whatever God has planned, we know that our mission statement has not changed. “And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.”

Our story as a church is still being written. Come be a part of the story, and help us reach the world with "His Story," the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
